At The Henderson Mine it's SAFETY FIRST, no exceptions! The group puts on safety gear and receives instruction on its use.... as does every tour group.
Senator Allard suited up and ready to look over the mine to see for himself why Henderson fits the Underground Science project so well.
The group, excited about the tour, receives last minute instruction and a little "mine" humor. From left to right: Fred Menzer, Sen. Allard, Lacee Artist, Prof. Jung, and Gail Habicht.
The Henderson Mine meets the science communities requirements, is environmentally responsible, fully permitted and ideally located for DUSEL and Superbeam experiments. The Henderson also offers economies of scale unavailable at other sites.

Lt. Gov Norton smiles as she displays a piece of the first core drill.

(The core drill is being drilled to confirm the rock composition)
Lt. Gov Norton is ready for work and not afraid of a little Mine dust to get the job done!.
As always at the Henderson, for Lt. Gov. Nortons trip it's safety first as the group gets instruction on equipment useage.
Professor of Physics and a key man in the project, Bob Wilson of CSU, watches carefully not to miss any details.

This way to UNO, and other DUSEL projects
The Lt. Gov. gets a briefing on the all events to date. Mr. Menzer talks about the Henderson and Prof. Wilson, the scientific application processes.
The Arapaho Project Inc.
Designating the Henderson mine as the best site for the National Science Foundation's DUSEL lab continues to gain momentum and supporters. Government leaders, educators and scientists from many disciplines, including; physics, geoscience, cosmology and geobiology have toured the mine to see first hand the benefits of the Henderson Mine. The Henderson 's economies of scale for excavation costs combined with existing permits, water treatment systems, twin independent 115kv power sources and underground high-speed fibre optic communications are unique to other sites. Favorite stops on the tours are the impressive hoist house and the Henderson's large diameter shaft with it's 25 ton capacity elevator. Tours begin in the modern support buildings and safety is the watchword at the Henderson. The drive to the mine, which is centrally located just off Highway 40 and I-70 in the beautiful Rocky Mountains, is a virtual postcard tour of the Colorado Rockies. Located a little over one hour from Denver and Denver International Airport, Henderson is also within easy driving distance of three major Universities and the many cultural opportunties in Denver.
